I think that the sexiest place for a guy to get a tattoo would be on his back creeping up his neck. If you can see a little bit of a tattoo on a guy, but his shirt is hiding the rest of it, you're curious to find out what it looks like. So it doubles as a conversation starter and a way for a girl to check out your body. In my opinion, a tattoo on the back appears masculine because the guy is confident to show it off in a manner that says "I like it, and that's that. I don't have to see it to assure myself that it looks good"
The chest - I like it on one side though - symmetrical really has to be done right for me to want to see it all the time. The back is also good - centered is better on the back. The arms - like a half-sleeve - could be nice, but a lot of designs for those are crappy in my opinion, even if executed well. I think the wrists - especially words - can be really really attractive - I can't imagine those ever bothering me, unless it said something ridiculous.
I would avoid the lower back, one shoulder, the stomach/hips and butt, as these tend to be areas typical of females. I guess the ankle falls in that category as well. But if you can pull it off, go for it. I think thigh tattoos or anywhere on upper leg only is a mistake.
