how do people come up with tattoo sleeves?

i want to get a tattoo sleeve, and i have been looking around on the interent for inspiration. I really like sleeves done by Nick Baxter. How do people come up with sleeves that look that good? I am not good at drawing at all, and I want a sleeve that looks similair to the other sleeves nick baxter does, I wouldnt copy any though. And I dont want a stupid one like knots or tribal, or any flash s''t

  1. have a consult appointment with an artist and talk about it

  2. I know alot if people who have started off with one tattoo they love and design a theme around that. Best advice is to have a theme, do your research into finding a quality artist then go to him with your ideas and reference nick baxter as the style you're gong for.. You and him together should be able to come up with what you want.

  3. Some people slowly add piece by piece and it makes a sleeve. Others come up with themes for their whole arm and the artist will draw it up. My one friend has Las Vegas as one sleeve, and under water sea creatures for his other arm. I've seen planets and the universe as a sleeve, nightmare before Christmas... as city you live near and love ... Like Chicago and it's Sears (Willis Tower), Chicago Theater.... of New York and the Twin Towns.... etc.

Think of a theme you would want and make an appointment with the tattoo artist. Tell him what you want and don't want... color... dislikes and likes... and he'll be able to draw something up for you.

    GL Hope this Helps
